First real test. The girls were down 2–0 at the half. Simple mistakes were being made. Their goalkeeper was saving everything. Heads lowered. Even some tears.
This was their first mental test of the season. Second half, down 3–0. Then it took one spark — Lucy finally slamming home a goal, and the tide shifted.
Lily then added another. Then the old adage… if we had five more minutes.
It was a great game, and the girls won in my eyes. The way they pulled themselves off the mat, taking on not only a strong opponent, but their mental struggles.
