Barossa played away, knowing that a win would see them move above their opponents into the 5th spot in the league.
Barossa won the coin toss and opted to kickoff. The visitors started strong and looked to move the ball around with pinpoint accuracy
while putting the home side on the back foot.
Barossa was in fine form and didn’t take long to break the deadlock and go out in front.
In the 8th minute, Stuart Shipway won a throw-in on the left and put a long ball into the danger zone, Daniel Hibbert made a smart run,
which created the space for the opportunity. The defence couldn’t deal with the delivery, and the goalkeeper could only palm the ball
away, which landed at the feet of Alex Griffiths, who instinctively wrapped his right foot around it and sent the ball past the keeper and
inside his near post.
Barossas’ joy and lead were short-lived as no more than 2 minutes later, Iggies put the ball in the net to level the game once again.
Barossa picked themselves up and went straight back to controlling possession and looking the more dangerous.
In the 14th minute, Barossa was awarded a freekick just inside the Iggies half. Jack Binyon floated in a perfect pass, which Alex Griffiths
headed towards goal. Again, the keeper couldn’t make a clean connection, and Stuart Shipway was on hand to tap home from close
range.
Barossas’ dominance paid off again when Jeronimo Ramos took on two players. His pass found Alex Griffiths, who cut inside his marker
and laid an inch perfect pass into the path of Neil Beach. Neil Beach took a touch to set himself and, with his left foot, drove a sweetly hit
shot out of reach of the keeper and into the roof of the net.
With the score at 3-1 at the break, Barossa was feeling good.
The home side tried to put up a fight, but the defence stood strong with both Zach Miller and James King putting in maximum effort.
Barossa kept searching for their fourth goal and did get it in the 68th minute. Jack Cannell pounced on a loose ball and went past two
defenders before he managed to lay a pass off to Stuart Shipway. Shipway struck the ball on his laces, and his shot went in at speed.
Iggies scored a goal 2 minutes later but wouldn’t be able to catch Barossa.
It was a brilliant team display and a well-deserved win.
Neil Beach was awarded the player of the match with a solid game and fantastic work rate.
