Barossa Women Claim Top-of-the-Table Victory
The women’s team faced a top-of-the-table clash against Tea Tree Gully on Wednesday night. The team was fired up and ready for
revenge after a narrow 4–3 loss to them just a couple of weeks ago.
Barossa started strongly, nearly scoring straight from kick-off. After settling into the game, Barossa controlled the majority of
possession and maintained constant pressure on the opposition. They struck first when Shyanne Giammona capitalised on the
goalkeeper fumbling the ball after a shot from Linn Eriksson. Maggie Fitzharris made a welcome return from injury, and her skill and
experience had an immediate impact, scoring two outstanding goals from outside the 18-yard box.
After half-time, Tea Tree Gully made some tactical changes to strengthen their defence, keeping Barossa scoreless until the final two
minutes. Shyanne Giammona and Linn Eriksson combined once again, splitting the defenders before Shyanne Giammona scored the
fourth and final goal to seal a dominant 4–0 victory.
The win was a true team effort. Up front, Linn Eriksson and Shyanne Giammona led the attack, while midfielders Shani Moyle, Elise
Henirich, Maggie Fitzharris, and Cass Frahm provided creativity, assists, and worked tirelessly to support both the forwards and the
defence. Defenders Katie Whelan, Alana Harvey, Elisa Trotta, Naomi Baker, Charlotte Thompson, and Mackenzie Noack were rock solid
at the back, helping secure another clean sheet for goalkeeper Kennedy Mifflin, her fifth of the season.
Thank you to three of the Under 18 girls for helping us out.
