Barossa made the longest journey of their season to face off against the bottom of the league. And it didn’t go as they’d hoped.
Barossa had a full squad but was carrying a few injuries, and they tried their hardest.
The opposition found it hard work to break Barossa down in the first half due to resolute defending and a lot of hard work.
But Cove did break deadlock in the 17th minute, and that’s how the first half would stay.
Oskar McKenzie played in goal and commanded his area well throughout the game.
Norbert Metz had a good game putting in some good tackles in defence.
Ashton Magarey also made some crucial interceptions and put his body on the line to thwart the opposition.
Riley Rewell had a great game, disrupting the Cove attackers and playing out from the back with grace and composure as he looked to
get Barossa on the attack.
Jackson Kalleske would only feature for a short time due to an injury, but when he was on the ball, he had a couple of nice breakaways.
Elliot Cockram put in a lot of running but couldn’t get hold of the ball to do any damage, not through lack of trying, though.
Johann Krzoska had the best of the play for Barossa as he found his way to goal on a couple of occasions with some great attacking runs
on the right wing.
Oscar Beach worked hard, playing out of position, and did a good job of closing down his opponents.
Nathan Ruch made some outstanding tackles throughout the game and worked tirelessly as he always does.
Harrison Mcroe had some good efforts saved by the keeper, but all of his shots were from tight angles and under pressure.
Jacob Berning put in maximum effort as he played across every position to help out his injured teammates.
The second half saw Barossa let in another 6 goals and go away disappointed.
The player of the match was awarded to Johann Krzoska, and his coach was very impressed with his ability to take players on and his
willingness to win the ball back.
