Match Report: Elizabeth Downs vs BUFC Under 14s

9-2 BUFC, yep that’s right it happened, credit to Elizabeth for providing a beautiful pitch it looked a pleasure to play on and Barossa obliged.

The opening 10-15 was a bit of arm wrestle but the majority was in Barossa’s attacking half. After a few missed chances/opportunity they unlocked the defence and opened the scoring with a header from Eli.

Sustained pressure after the restart resulted in a rash challenge and a penalty to boot, dispatched by Lucas (Briggsy).

The boys were unlucky not to add to the score line from few set pieces and corners a 3rd was added to the collection through quick thinking and decisive movement from Brock. The defence held their speedy players down the wings time after time along with the sweeper work from the centre half and keeper cleaning up anything that got through. The half ending 3-0.

After a solid start of the game no-one was aware that the 2nd half was going to give us 8 goals in total… in nerd terms that’s a goal every 4.38 minutes. So out the gate we had Ethan opening the half 4-0, Elizabeth showing there’s bite in the old dog boom 4-1. Quick to rain on the celebration Eli strikes back to get a brace 5-1, Issac with a run and lethal finish 6-1, Tane in the act next 7-1 before Lochlan finished with a quick fire brace including a tracer bullet from the angle that was past the keeper before he knew 9-1 it’s literally Oprah giving out goals, you get a goal, you get a goal….Bit of a mixup at the end gave Elizabeth a 2nd 9-2 being the final margin. It was a great performance to open the season and on to the next round of the cup.
