Match report – Under 13 Green

U13 GREEN

Barossa United U13 Green had two fixtures to play on the weekend with many players unavailable due to sickness and injury. Borrowing players from other teams was critical in getting them on the pitch. Friday night saw the input from three teams in conditions better suited to ducks.

Players from the U13 Blue and U12 Blue teams eagerly put their hands up to support the U13 Green squad to ensure a team could be put on the pitch in a rescheduled fixture against Ghan United.

Heavy rain was a consistent presence throughout the match which soaked them to the core but didn’t “dampen” their enthusiasm or team spirit.

Each team went into half time with a goal after a closely fought 1st half. Both teams continued to play contested football with Ghan United eventually scoring several times and coming away with the win.

The 2nd fixture on Sunday was played in more favourable conditions, again with borrowed players from the U12 Blue squad and age eligible players from the U14 Green squad. They all came together with the U13s Greens for a match against Seaford Rangers.

In what ended up being a close affair, Barossa came away with a morale lifting victory beating the Rangers 5-3 ensuring that all players left the pitch on a high with smiles a mile wide.

Club spirit was on display all weekend as players rallied together, played solid football and celebrated the very essence of what it means to be a player from the BUFC!

Well done to ALL players and coaches involved!
