UNDER 8 GREEN
Barossa United FC U8’s Green had their first game today against Playford City. The team of 6 played exceptionally well. Goalkeepers, Malakai and Bailey, did an amazing job considering it’s the first time they had played the position. Liam and Sid always found space on the pitch to drive the ball down to goals. There were some great kicks from Rocco, and Lelani was a great defender and led the team as team captain. Coach Shane was very proud of them all.
UNDER 11 SKY
It was a perfect morning for the Barossa United FC Under 11 Sky team to open their 2025 campaign. It was an away match against Pontian Eagles at Paralowie, and all the parents confirmed the boys were up early and ready to rock and roll. The four soccer debutants, Elliot, Hansie, Jackson and Owain had been training well and were ready to test their skills with their experienced team mates.
The game started at a frantic pace with Harrison opening the scoring in the first couple of minutes of the game. The Pontians then hit back with goals in quick succession. Anyone thinking Coach Tim would be rattled by the quick replies was sorely mistaken, and he settled the boys down for the rest of the half. Owain, Harvey and Jackson were rocks in defence and distributed the ball to the hard-working Isaac and Dane in the midfield. Whatever was in the drink bottles at half-time worked a treat as the boys came out in the second half and controlled the play from start to finish. Some crisp passing between Elliott and Isaac finished with a goal to Riley, showing he is dangerous at both ends of the pitch. The few chances the opposition created were shut down by Sam in goal, always making the right decision on when to attack and when to stay put. The final goal came from a perfectly weighted through ball from Harrison to Hansie, who beat the keeper and put it into the back of the net. Best on ground: All the parents for raising a great bunch of lads.
