Salisbury Inter 0 vs Barossa United 4
A three day turnaround and a nice balmy evening at Underdown Park greeted the girls for a mid week game. Salisbury Inter were the
opponents, and coming off a loss to Playford on Sunday saw the girls keen to redeem themselves.
With the game underway, Ruby Roth started with some clever defensive work, Jana Tscharke was showing off her dancing moves as she
weaved through the opposition and Jemima Teague was trying to open the score up with a mighty strike that just missed. The game
continued at an even pace until Lucy Amos cleverly kicked to Jemima who scored the first goal of the game. The Barossa girls took a one
goal lead into the break.
The second half started with an early goal from Lucy Amos. Salisbury kicked into gear and had a period of dominant play that
challenged our girls. Maya Garfield stood tall as our goalie and thwarted many attempts. The Barossa girls settled and began to take
control and kicked two more goals for the game. The first went to Jemima who stole the ball from the goalie and converted. The second
started with Lily Catanzariti cleverly weaving her way through traffic, passing to Lucy Amos who then finished the job. Two goals a
piece to Lucy Amos and Jemima Teague saw the girls win 4 goals to nil. One of the highlights of the night was Phoebe Koch’s loud calling
and “freight train” attack on the ball which bemused and scared the opposition, while amusing her team mates!
