Barossa Green U12s Match Report – Barossa vs Port Adelaide Pirates
Today saw our Barossa Green Under 12s make the trip to Port Adelaide to take on the Pirates. Both teams started the game with plenty
of determination, eager to finish with the win.
The Pirates struck first, taking a 1–0 lead after 19 minutes with a strong attacking move. Barossa responded brilliantly, capitalising on
a perfectly delivered corner from Jaxson Martin, which found Ethan Morris, who calmly slotted the ball into the back of the net to level
the scores.
The momentum stayed with Barossa, and before halftime Jaxson Martin put us in front with a fantastic low strike to make it 2–1
heading into the break.
The second half proved challenging as the Pirates came out firing, exposing gaps in Barossa’s defence and scoring three goals in four
minutes to regain control of the match.
Barossa refused to give in. A great passing move out from the back created space for a perfectly weighted through ball, allowing Jaxson
Martin to finish clinically for his second goal of the game.
The Pirates continued to apply relentless pressure, forcing our goalkeeper into plenty of action before adding another five goals.
Despite the scoreboard, Barossa kept fighting until the final whistle.
Leo Jasper produced a great finish after timing his run perfectly and beating the goalkeeper, while Jaxson Martin completed a
memorable hat-trick with a superb volley over the keeper after reacting quickest to a rebound.
It was a tough contest against a strong Pirates side, and while the result didn’t go our way, the team’s determination and willingness to
keep battling until the end was something to be proud of.
Next week, Barossa Green returns home for the final game of the season, where they’ll have the home-ground advantage to finish the
year on a high.
