Sturt 3-0 BUFC U12 Blue
Barossa was still in search of their first win and were hopeful it would be on the road against Sturt, but it wasn’t meant to be.
Barossa started the game positively but was unable to make any headway into the home sides’ defensive zone. Sturt looked good going
forward, but Riley Rewell stood strong and proved why he was becoming the heart of the defence with his ability to read the play and
stop counterattacks. Oscar Beach and Oskar McKenzie both made some crucial tackles, and both players are getting better with each
passing game.
Sturt took the lead in the 11th minute, but Barossas’ heads didn’t drop.
Nathan Ruch had the energy to burn and had a great game once again, as he continued to please his coach with his decision-making
and commitment to get up and down the pitch. Ruch nearly got a goal for the visitors, but his effort from the halfway line went just over
the bar.
Elliot Cockram put in a great performance as he has done for the last few weeks. He is calm and collected when on the ball, and his work
rate off the ball is brilliant.
Johann Krzoska had a few break away chances on the right and put some dangerous crosses into the box towards the end of the first
half.
Against the run of play, Sturt got their 2nd just before half time.
Barossa started the second half the better of the two teams and started stringing passes together.
Jackson Kalleske played with great ability as he made several runs, twisting and turning his markers, but to no reward, unfortunately.
Norbert Metz playing at right-back put in some good tackles and made a couple of good clearances as he continues to improve.
Harrison McRoe was a handful for the opposition and was unfortunate not to get his name on the score sheet as he had a couple of
efforts saved by the keeper.
Jacob Berning had another amazing performance in goal, making some brilliant saves throughout the game to deny Sturt from running
away with the game.
With 4 minutes remaining, Sturt got the 3rd and final goal of the game.
Jackson Kalleske was awarded the player of the match.
