Under 13 YPL – Elizabeth Downs vs Barossa United
Barossa United FC Under 13 YPL squad played an early away game against Elizbeth Downs on a cold morning with confidence being high after a big win last weekend. Barossa started the game well passing the ball around extremely well on a small pitch. The defence with Charlie Aird and Austin Clay was rock solid, not giving the opponent an opportunity early on and our central midfield was bolstered with Taj Rowe starring with another solid performance.
The intensity was good from our squad, and we put the pressure on and that led to a breakthrough from a corner with Harry Tolhurst volleying it into the net. We kept the advantage until just before half time and then Elizabeth Downs scored from a free kick just inside the box to make it level at half time.
The second half was a tense encounter with both sides having chances to go ahead. We defended well and then in the later parts of the second half started moving the ball around nicely with Hudson Fuller and Louis Ashmead connecting to have some fantastic attacking play. In the last few minutes of the match, a cut back across the box to Lewis Birch saw him score the winner with a calm finish. A massive improvement from our squad and some great play from the team.
