Saturday Mens Highlights
A thrilling start to the season for our senior Mens team against St Augustines Soccer Club! With both teams eagerly looking to start season 2024 on a high note, this game was exciting to watch!
There was a nervous start until the baby-faced assassin Ethan Nolan stole the ball in the 18-yard box and slot home a nice goal to see Barossa go 1-0 up.
St Augustine’s had some good play through the middle of the park and scored two goals in 10 minutes to see them go ahead 2-1.
Barossa then turned to their Argentinian maestro Big Kev, cutting back a sublime ball for Captain Jacob Cannon, who side foot smashed the equaliser into the top of the net.
The second half saw Barossa play some better football and saw James Ruwoldt calmly nailed a penalty kick into the bottom left corner and put the home team ahead 3-2. Some good footwork led to a nice collaboration with Ruwoldt again and after a nice pass past the defense, Alex Worrall slotted home another goal to put Barossa 4-2 up.
St Augustine’s never gave up and pushed to come back into the match. Late in the game they scored to get the game back to 4-3 but there wasn’t much left in the tank for either side and the game finished at 4-3.
