Under 9 Girls vs Flinders United
On Sunday morning, Flinders United made the trek to the Barossa to take on our Under 9 Girls at home.
Both sides had players missing, which meant there were few substitutes and plenty of game time for all the girls.
Barossa was switched on from the start with strong defence and plenty of attacking moves.
The girls have been working at training on moving the ball from a goalkeeper kick from defence, down the wing, and crossing into the
middle in the attacking half to create scoring opportunities. That training paid off, with Barossa scoring two goals in the first half.
Much of this was built on the girls’ constant pressure whenever Flinders United had possession, forcing multiple turnovers.
At halftime, the girls came in full of excitement and smiles. The message was simple—to keep doing what they had been doing in the
first half.
A few positional changes after the break did not change the way the girls played. Once again, they continued to run in pairs when
bringing the ball from defence into attack and looked for teammates in space when approaching goal.
The defence remained strong throughout the second half, with plenty of clearing kicks easing the pressure on the Barossa goalkeeper.
Through hard running, constant pressure, and good dribbling and passing, the Barossa girls added a third and final goal to cap off a
great all-round team performance.
Well done, girls. Next game is away against Modbury.
