No passports were needed this week, as Barossa United U13 Blue turned home ground into their own World Cup stage with a
commanding 4-0 win over Adelaide University on a crisp Barossa Sunday.
After a couple of tough results, the lads looked switched on from the opening whistle, combining sharp attacking play with relentless
work across the park and showing exactly what they can do when everything clicks.
The opening goal came after Arno Viney delivered a corner into the box where, after a scramble and a bit of classic chaos-ball, Sonny
Cooper pounced to make it 1-0.
Barossa continued to build pressure through strong running and smart link-up play. Oscar Chipman worked hard to keep possession
alive, Rodrigo Bhraunxs helped drive the team forward, and Paul McKenzie was a constant option up front as the home side settled into
the game.
That momentum paid off again when Arno Viney started the move with a long goal kick that found Seth Broekx, who broke forward and
finished strongly for 2-0.
Edward Purnell then produced one of the runs of the day, carrying the ball from halfway, staying on his feet despite pressure in the box
and driving home Barossa’s third.
With confidence growing, Barossa kept attacking while still working hard off the ball. Floyd Nattrass and Sonny Cooper contributed
strongly at both ends and the team switched quickly into defence whenever needed.
The fourth goal capped off a flowing team move, with Edward Purnell again pushing forward before linking with Tyler Saers for a
composed finish.
As Adelaide University looked for a way back into the game, Barossa stayed organised. Cooper Broadhurst was rock solid at the back
and attacked every ball like a wall in defence, while Joel Fitzpatrick and Rhyce Howarth worked tirelessly to help maintain pressure and
support the defensive effort.
In goals, Seth Broekx in the first half and Braxton Maslen-Heinrich in the second helped keep things secure behind a well-organised
defensive unit that held its shape.
A strong team display, built on sharp link-up play and control across the park from start to finish.
