In a strong all-round performance, with the team showing attacking intent and solid
defensive structure throughout the game, the Under 14 girls showed their style and
persistence yet again.
Ruby Roth was influential on the right wing, delivering several quality through balls
that created dangerous attacking opportunities. In defence, Jana Tscharke’s speed in
the back half was crucial, helping to shut down opposition attacks and maintain
control.
Maya Garfield impressed in the first half with a series of excellent saves as Goalkeeper,
keeping the opposition at bay during key moments. In midfield, Liliana Catanzariti
delivered a captain’s performance, controlling the game and setting up the opening
goal with a perfectly timed pass to Molly Rich, who finished confidently midway
through the first half.
The team maintained pressure in the opposition’s defensive half, playing positive
attacking football. Emmy Mowbray contributed with several powerful shots from
outside the box, testing the defence and goalkeeper.
Substitutes Jemima Teague and Lucy Amos made an immediate impact late in the first
half, combining well to score the second goal and extend the lead.
Tea Tree Gully responded with several dangerous chances in the second half, keeping
the game competitive, but Barossa’s second-half goalkeeper Ava Knowles produced
some strong saves to deny them.
The defensive unit of Jana Tscharke, Ruby Roth, Daisy Barlow, Annabel Bowley and
Leila Bowley worked cohesively to protect the goal, showing discipline and composure
under pressure.
Going forward, Izzy Dickson played an important role in creating opportunities,
delivering multiple through balls that set up scoring chances. Charlotte Kitschke also
came close with an impressive run, narrowly missing out on adding to the scoreline.
With five minutes remaining, Lucy secured her second goal of the match, calmly
finishing to seal the result.
